2 steps homemade playdough recipe

Kids love to play with Playdoh.

homemade playdough, homemade playdoh, playdoh recipe play dough recipe, resepi playdoh

Like they can play with it for hours. I love it when they pretend to own a restaurant. J will take my order, and then she will tell the cook, D. Or when they made animals and pretend that it's a zoo. You got the see the kind of animals they make. Most of the time I don't even know what kind of animal is it. But my favorite is .... can you guess???? It's when they leave me alone.

Let's face it. We love our children. We would do anything to protect them. We go extra mile to make them happy. We teach, we impart wisdom, we shape their personalities. We cook we clean we get dirty (from vomits and poo poo). Aaaaaand sometimes we just want to be left alone. Am I right? or am I right. I know you're with me on this.  So when I needed extra time (read: leisure time) I like to let them play with their playdoh, hoping I'm not part of their pretend play. ngeeee

Downside is, Playdoh is expensive, especially when you constantly need to buy it, because your 3 year old mixed all the colors and it would end up being black playdoh, and she will make it into little pieces and pretend that it's raining playdoh and it would end up under the sofa, on the table, got stuck up with the ahem... leftover rice under the dining table ahem.... And with the way my kids play, not worth it to buy a whole lot. So I found this easy 2 steps playdough recipe online

I found it a loooong time ago. I wish to credit the owner of the recipe, but I seriously can't recall the site. Tried to Google it, couldn't find which one. Lately I seems to be forgetting a lot of things. Scaaaary. I hope I'm not losing my mind. People said it's normal to forget something after you had your babies. Well, I read that taking Vitamin B can improve your memory. Maybe it's time to start consuming them eh. During my pregnancy, I took Vitalea from Shaklee as my multivitamin, so I'm thinking of buying their B Complex.

Back to playdough recipe. It is super easy. You only need:

  1. 1 cup of wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cup of salt
  3. 1/2 cup of warm water
  4. 1 tsp of oil
  5. Food coloring
I don't have food coloring, so mine is white play dough . hahha

Step 1 for homemade playdough: Mix salt and warm water.

Make sure all the salts are dissolved. I made a mistake of putting everything in the bowl altogether. Ended up with a sandy-ish playdough. Is there such a word?? ahaaa.  I hope you got what I mean. It's not smooth.  It has a texture, like it got mixed up with sand.

Step 2 super easy playdough: Get a bowl and mix it up!

Put in flour, oil, and the salty water. If you have food coloring, you can add it in as well. I would imagine that we need to mix it pretty well prior to adding in the water. Or mix it with water, so that it would be even. Oh, and my advice is to put in the water little by little.

My mistake was I put everything in (as explained above. To my defense, that's what the initial recipe asked me to do), aaaand it is waaay too soft and a bit sticky for my taste. If this happened, don't worry. Add in more flour, again little by little. You don't want to end up having too much playdough. Dear En Sed said, waste of good flour. I say a good use of the time

Playing with playdough increase their creativity and imagination,  motor skill development, social skill, communcation skill. Hey read more here. You can see a lot more ideas on playing with play dough.

So there you have it. And it is long lasting as well. Here it is after 24 hours exposed to the environment. I know it doesn't look like it, but it is still quite soft and still a fun to play with

Oh and a little lesson in chemistry, for those interested. If I get it wrong, do correct me. I love to know the reason why we use those ingredients.

Question 1: Why do we have to use warm water?
So that the protein/gluten in the flour will react with the water and the heat to form stretchy elastic mess. But, what I found out is, when I used warm water the dough is more soft. So, way to go heat and water and protein/gluten.

Question 2: What does oil do?
Keep it moist and not sticky. Though if we put in too much, it'll be too oily and messy and u have to mop your floor immediately after, aaaand wasssshhhhhh every tool. A CHORE i tell ya!!!

Question 3: Why salt?
Now I actually wonder about this first. Why do we have to put in the salt. Because that's a lot of salts!!! Like 1 quarter of a new bag of salt! In my research it says that salts act as preservative, preventing it from getting moldy. Some say it prevent toddler from eating it. But the real reason is salt is the ingredient that hold everything together, allowing the dough to expand without tearing.

3 Perkara JANGAN buat kalau nak keropok lekor sedap

Ahaaaa. Hari ni first time mak buat keropok lekor sendiri. sejak2 mak tak kerja ni mak punya ambition masak2 bukan main lagi tau.

Ahad haritu, kitorg keluar makan. Dah tetibaaa pukul 2 petang otw nak balik rumah boleh pulak bunga melor mintak nak makan keropok lekor. Aduh lah nakkk…. Mana nak carik keropok lekor kat KL ni. Selalu mak belikan keropok lekor, amboih bukan main banyak perasaaaaa. Masin atau masam pon pernah. Tak sesuaiii lah dengan ambition mak nak healthy living and healthy eating ni

buku mak tgh baca skrg ni "nutrition . immunity . longevity" boleh tahan susah nak hadam. mak nak habiskan topic obesity je pon dulu. bukan apa sekarang ni selalu sakit2 kaki, sakit pinggang. bila nak solat tu aduh laaah, nak sujud susah, nak duduk antara dua sujud pon sakiit. kadang2 nak nangis mak rasa. mak ambil ostematrix nak kurangkan sakit. en sed cakap mungkin mak kurang kalsium. doctor kata mak berat. ok lah kan mak start dengan ostematrix

nanti mak nak start set kurus shaklee pulak ah.

eh eh sambung2 cerita keropok lekor

Mak pon dengan konfiden nya jawab kat bunga melor  “nanti mak buatkan ok”.

ni mak punya aspiration. mak dah terbayang kegembiraan anak2 mak makan keropok buatan tangan mak sendiri

Mak pon google lah resepi mudah keropok lekor. tapi mak dah tak igt dari blog mana mak ambil resepi.

Bahan2:
1. 1 mangkuk Ikan kembung / ikan sardin (mak beli dlm 10 ekor ikan saiz kecik)
2. 2 cawan tepung ubi / tepung sagu
3. 2 sudu tepung gandung
4. garam secukup rasa

Perkara pertama mak buat adalah siang ikan. buang tulang ikan. blend ikan. masa buat ni one thought that crossed my mind was:

Perkara pertama: Jangan beli ikan kecik kalau nak buat keropok lekor!!!!

Kenapa???? proses buang tulang jadi sangat susah bila ikan kecil. luka2 tgn mak nakkk. mata pon naik juling tgk tulang. Ya Allah nasib baik 10 ekor ikan je. Tu pon mak asyik kira berapa lagi tinggal berapa lagi tinggal. Atau up sikit, beli lah filet. Agak2 ikan mackerel pon sedap kut jadi keropok lekor.

Cara mak debone adalah
Step 1: Potong kepala altogether. buang.
Step 3: Siat kulit ikan

buat sampai habis semua ikan.

Perkara kedua: Jangan letak garam last sekali dalam doh keropok lekor

Sebab nyaaa??? tanak garam seketul2 dlm keropok kannnn. Mak pernah buat playdoh, mak letak garam last sekali, lepas gaul tepung dgn air. berketul2 garam dlm tu. confirm tak larut.

J & D tanya "mak, kenapa playdoh ni ada rasa mcm pasir2"
Mak pon jawab "biar ada texture sikit masa main tu"
Padahal memang mak dah salah

1.5 sudu kecil garam
1/2 cawan air.

Doh tu memang lembik ye. Jangan risau, mmg lembik. Masa uli tu tgn biar bertepung2. Jangan sapu peluh sekarang tau, nanti muka jadi tompok2 putih. Mak uli atas pinggan leper je. Letak tepung gandum atas pinggan, ambil sedikit doh, dan uli jadi keropok lekor

Perkara ketiga: Jangan uli doh tebal-tebal.

Mak tak suka keropok lekor yang nipis garing tu. Mak ingat mak bijak sangat buat tebal. Lepas tu mak fikir, sebab agak susah nak uli doh yg lembik tu mak buat panjang-panjang nanti potong je lah. Susah!!!!

oh masa ni banyak kali bunga melor masuk dapur. ayat dia
"mak tau ke buat" " mak tau kee masak niii"

aih budak niiiiiii. Tapi bila dah siap J and D cakap. "paaaaaandai mak masak"

Happy kids happy mak!

Trip to Pasir Salak

20 April 2017 - Pasir Salak trip

Haaaa. Tetiba kene outstation ke Pasir Salak. More like performing my sisterly duty. Dearest Along kene g MRSM Pasir Salak, mintak kitorg temankan. When I had to travel all over Malaysia, my sisters sacrificed their time to take care of my kids.

Anyway...

We were supposed to stay at Pasir Salak Green Eco Resort. Booked it over the phone, informed them that we'll be checking in around 9pm. Aaand the receptionist said "nanti ambil kunci kat security guard ye. Payment semua boleh buat esok pagi nya"

??? Say whatt??!!

Apekah? Get the keys from the security guard? Then I asked her "no one at the lobby?" Apparently, the night guard doubled up as receptionist as well. Talk about weird huh

So off we go, from KL around 5pm. It was raining. Everyone was hungry and tired. Jasmin kept chanting "Are we there yet?" every few minutes. It's apparent that she is bored. So we stopped at Tapah.

Kids wanted to get the donuts.

We arrived at MRSM Pasir Salak 10mins past 8. Meeting was supposed to start at 8.30pm, care to guess what time did it actually convened? 9.++pm.

After Along's meeting concluded, we decided to skip Pasir Salak Green Eco Resort and check in at D'Hotel Seri Iskandar instead. It is a safer bet, and we feel comfortable there (my parents in law's house is just 15km away from D'Hotel). Turned out to be a great decision.

Too bad no bath tub

Kids had fun at the swimming pool. Billion mall in the same building ~OK not in comparison to Midvalley, or Jusco etc~  Food is in abundance, in walking distance from the hotel. No fridge in the room though. Minimalist concept, the wardrobe doesn't even has doors. I'm not fussy, so all is well.

Definitely coming back with the family 😃😃

Eh eh, tapi menang bukan berdasarkan nasib ye. Usaha usaha usaha. Merancang strategi, melaksanakan rancangan. Contoh mudah; pertandingan anjuran Nestle. Pembelian minimum RM50, maka belilah barang-barang Nestle bernilai RM50 4 kali, jadi dapatlah 4 resit penyertaan. (ini pon strategi, kenapa 4 kali je. Dah kalau hadiah pertama pon cuma bernilai RM500...)

Banyaknya sampai RM200. Ah, barang yang tak pakai juallah balik. Atau beri saja pada yang memerlukan.

Nampak tak usaha, siap bersedekah lagi tu.

Hadiah-hadiah yang tak dipakai? Haa tu lah jumpa dia semalam. Dia jual pada harga yang sangat murah. Beg jenama Kipling berharga RM1500 dia jual RM300 je. Eh eh saya tak beli... 😁😁

What should i do, or not do?

Here I am, at home, on a weekday, watching Dari Parlimen (OMG am I really watching that on TV?) .... alone.
Well, the truth is .. I've been given the boot!
dear hubster said "well, u got your wish" aaannndd i grab the chance to sulk
who in their right mind wanted to be fired let go. As much I want to be a home maker, I want it to be on my own terms, not worrying about money, focusing on raising the kids, our house, and still able to share rezq with my parents and anyone in need.

So now, I am faced with a few dilemmas

Should I

  1. Home school or continue with current arrangement (Melor in Kindy, D at nursery)
  2. Find employment or self-employed
  3. Open my own business or do odd jobs or serious with Shaklee
  4. Sell our other property or maintain it (non-income generating kind of property
  5. expand our little family? *big grin*
what should i do, or not do??
